Plant Operations Pre-testing

Qualification for the appropriate pre-employment test(s) is required for consideration for most non-management skilled and technical jobs at RRI Energy. The pre-employment tests were developed through extensive research and recognized validation standards. Standardized pre-employment tests help us evaluate individuals interested in working for our company in a fair, consistent and efficient manner.

For test preparation and study guides from our testing partner, Edison Electric Institute (EEI)

  1. Go to Edison Electric Institute’s testing brochures page
  2. Enter the following:
    • Name: candidate
    • Password: testing
  3. Select from the following:
    • Power Plant Operator Selection Test (POSS)
    • Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS)
    • Test taking tips
For practice tests from EEI
  1. Go to Edison Electric Institute's practice test page
  2. Enter the following:
    • Name: candidate
    • Password: testing
  3. Select from these tests
    • Power Plant Operator Selection Test (POSS)
    • Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS)
Note:
  • The version of the POSS test you will take does not contain the Tables and Graphs component described in the preparation guide. Instead of Tables and Graphs, it contains a component called Visual Pursuit. In the Visual Pursuit component you will be asked to trace a line from its beginning to its end point.
  • The version of the POSS test you will take contains only the short form (7-minute time limit) of the mathematical usage component. The long version of the mathematical component is not included in your test.
