RRI Energy manages its generation assets with best-in-class operational and maintenance practices to ensure the generation of safe, and reliable electricity in harmony with the environment. The company operates a diverse fleet with a range of dispatch types and fuel capabilities, well-equipped to meet the variety of demand requirements of the market.

The RRI fleet includes a range of technology types, from conventional pulverized coal units to the latest circulating fluidized bed (CFB) coal technology used in its Seward waste coal facility in Pennsylvania. Gas technology ranges from new combined-cycle units to combustion turbines and traditional steam units.

The Commercial Operations and Origination group is responsible for optimizing the value of our power generation and related assets. We work closely with our Plant Operations group to economically dispatch RRI Energy’s generation fleet and manage the associated fuel and emissions requirements.

Commercial Operations sells electricity, generation capacity and ancillary service products to a variety of power customers, including independent power producers; power grids/ISOs (independent system operators); investor-owned utilities; municipalities; cooperatives; banks and trading companies and other companies that serve end users.
